that under the provisions of the Highway Traffic Act, Section 170, Subsection 12, No person shall park or leave standing any vehicle, whether attende
d or unattended, upon any road in such a manner as to interfere with snow removal operations. Any vehicle obstructing snow removal operations will be referred to the OPP and shall be removed at the owner’s expense.

No Person shall deposit snow onto the road or road allowance pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act, Section 181.

  • The Landfill Site is located at 434354 4th Line Amaranth, north of 15 Sideroad. Hours of operation are Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for disposal of the following items:


  • Scrap Metal
  • Yard Waste
  • Large Styrofoam
  • Bale Wrap, Bale Twine
  • 4 tires (per information above
  • Construction Items (Small amounts)
  • Brush (no stumps)
  • Re-Use Centre

Electronic Hardware and Equipment can be taken to Household Waste and Electronic Days (see dates below). Shingles, fridges, freezers, air conditioners, large furniture and commerical and industrial waste are not accepted. Items not accepted at the Amaranth Landill Site may be taken to Dufferin Transfer and Recycling Facility 473051 County Rd. 11. For more information please call them at (519) 943-0101. Spring Events will be held May 1 - Town of Mono; May 29 - Primrose; June 26 - Orangeville; Wednesday, July 21 - Primrose; Wednesday, August 18 - Orangeville; September 11 - Grand Valley; October 2 - Primrose; October 30 - Orangeville.

Telephones, answering machines (mobile/cellular)
Personal digital assistants, personal handheld computers

Televisions (no wooden consoles)

USED TIRE COLLECTION

Residents of AMARANTH may drop off their used tires, any kind, up to 4 per visit,
OFF THE RIM, at the landfill site during business hours- NO CHARGE !

ADOPT-A-ROAD PROGRAM

Adopt a Road Program is established as a public service program for environmentally conscious citizen volunteers / organizations to pick up litter along Township Right-of-ways.

The Township of Amaranth will enter into an agreement with citizen volunteers / organizations and commercial establishments, to adopt a section of the Township road and are recognized by signs erected by the Township Public Works Department acknowledging their efforts.

Applications will be reviewed and checked to ensure the section of road they wish to adopt is available, and is a safe stretch of road to work on.

Applications by citizen volunteers / organizations are limited to a maximum of five (5) per year. Township to supply and erect the ‘Adopt-a-road’ sign. If a personal identification sign is desired, the cost would be the responsibility of the volunteer / organization.

Applications by a commercial establishment have no limit to the number of applications submitted per year. The commercial establishment is responsible for the cost of the ‘adopt-a-road’ sign and, if desired, the cost of the personal identification sign.

All parties must wear a safety vest (provided by the Township), protective gloves and appropriate footwear (no open toed shoes).

Clean up at least once a year - between April 1st and November 15th focusing on Earth Day and an appropriate date in the Fall.
