Wetlands for the Upper Grand - Wetlands are areas that are
permanently or seasonally flooded. They are important places for
wildlife but are also important to people, especially in agricultural
areas. Program can provide up to 100% of funding for landowners
in the Upper Grand Watershed for demonstration projects that restore
or enhance wetland and associated upland habitat. Examples of
eligible demonstrations include wetland restoration, livestock
exclusion fencing. Non-permanent wetlands are important! Just
because some wetlands dry up over the summer, doesn't mean they
aren't important. For further information call Michael Williams

TOWNSHIP TREE PROGRAM
In conjunction with
the MNR Land Stewardship Network, the Township is offering a tree program
for distribution in the Spring. The program offers both tree
and shrub species at a subsidized cost to the residents. The seedlings
and shrubs are suited for general reforestation and wildlife habitat. In order to
offer the trees at reduced costs, the municipality orders the
trees in the Fall, in co-operation with several area municipalities,
for distribution to residents in the Spring. The Land Stewardship
Network offers technical information and volunteers for distribution,
as well as subsidizing the cost of the program.
