BUILDING AND PLANNING

Building permits are required for the construction of new buildings or structures, building additions, pools, decks, sheds and structural alterations and must comply with the provisions of the Township By-Laws. A building permit application can be obtained from the Municipal Office or the County of Dufferin Building Department. Link to County of Dufferin Building Permit

2004 OFFICIAL PLAN

The Official Plan contains objectives and policies extablished primarily to provide guidance or the development of a municipality. Official Plan Amendments may be obtained from time to time by following the applicable amendment process. Information can be obtained at the Municipal Office and forms available below. The Official Plan for the Township of Amaranth has been adopted by the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Amaranth and approved by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, save and except identified areas that are under appeal.

 

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Township of Amaranth passed By-law 01-2009 on the 7th day of January 2009, under Section 17 & 21 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. as amended, and is awaiting approval by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT

The purpose and effect of the proposed amendment to the Official Plan is to correct several mapping errors related to environmental features and the Environmental Protection designations to Official Plan for the Township of Amaranth as adopted by Council December 2004.

Schedule “A” is revised with respect to the Environmental Protection designations only. All other designations on Schedule A are carried forward from the approved Official Plan and do not form part of the amendment.

Schedule “B” is revised with respect to the wetland and floodplain features only. All other features on Schedule “B” are carried forward from the approved Official Plan and do not form part of this Amendment. It is also noted that the Vulnerable Aquifer features remain deferred by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

ZONING BY-LAW 02-2009

The Zoning by-law 02-2009 for the Township of Amaranth has been approved by the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Amaranth.

The Township Zoning By-Law is a legal document, which is used to control the development of properties and buildings. Zoning Classifies properties into zones such Agricultural, Rural, Estate Residential, etc. Each of these zones has legally enforceable regulations attached to them such as the location and size of building.
