Council meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Administration Office and 4th Tuesday of each month in Marsville starting at 2:00 p.m., unless otherwise determined by Council,and are open to the Public. Anyone wishing to address Council should contact the Administration Office for an appointment.

Please note that the 1st meeting of the month is held at the Administration Office which is an fully accessible facility, however the 2nd meeting of the month held at the Marsville Hall which is not accessible.

2010 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
CANDIDATE REGISTRATION / NOMINATION

This notice is for anyone proposing to be a candidate in the Municipal Election on October 25, 2010. Candidates may file a registration / nomination form during regular business hours after January 1, 2010, with the last day for filing being September 10, 2010. A prescribed fee, which may be refundable, in the amount of $200.00 for Head of Council, and $100.00 for all other candidates payable by cash, certified cheque or money order, must accompany the registration / nomination form.

Candidates must not spend or raise funds for their election campaign until their registration / nomination form has been filed. The form is available from the office of the Municipal Clerk or Click here

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs has prepared a "The Municipal Elections 2010 Guide" for further information.

WHY DO MUNICIPAL COUNCILS AND LOCAL BOARDS HAVE MEETINGS
OR PORTIONS OF MEETINGS THAT ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC?

Municipal Councils, local boards and their committees must meet behind closed doors on occasion to deal with some matters. For example, if a municipality is being sued or if Council is considering purchasing a piece of land; or must deal with a labour relations issue, then it is appropriate that it be able to do so at a closed meeting. The purpose of such a closed meeting is to receive information or give direction. For further information Click Here

Boards and Committees -

Public Members are appointed by Council to certain special purpose bodies, concurrent with term of Council. Anyone interested in serving must be at least 18 years old; a Canadian Citizen; a resident of the Township; not employed by the Board or the municipality.
